Mike received his BS in Exercise Physiology from Ohio University. Continuing his education at Ohio University, he obtained his teaching licensure in Science Education. During college, Mike worked as a fitness center supervisor, risk reduction trainer, and personal trainer at a facility named WellWorks. He also worked with patients in cardiac rehab at his local hospital, utilizing a program named HeartWorks. Upon graduation, and after teaching in several school systems, Mike decided to focus on his passion for helping individuals reach their exercise performance goals, big or small. Supporting, motivating and enabling others to live a better overall quality of life is what brings him fulfillment. As a result, Mike came to the Duke Health & Fitness Center in 2014. He currently manages the personal training program, with an emphasis on creating individualized exercise programs that are challenging, but achievable. Mike also manages the Mind/Body and Therapeutic Massage programs, with an emphasis on creating activity and experiences that best connects the state of mind with the experiences of the body. Finally, Mike also uses his skills and talent to create the marketing material that is used by the Fitness Center in our announcements, flyers, newsletter, facebook, etc.
